Agreed, that was't an issue for me. Promotion is good for some people, others prefer a different approach. It's always going to be that way.

From my perspective, yeah, hit delete and move on. However, I (and hopefully the others) are looking at it from the perspective of a user. Pm's here are meant to be more private and personal.
Also, many people have email notification turned on, and then when they come here to find something like this, they get pissed at the forum. If there were an option on the forum to disable "events notifications" that would be one thing - but there isn't. This isn't myspace.
I think the next version of phpbb does allow multiple messages - so we need to set a policy now.
The messaging on THIS forum is not meant for Spam as broadly defined by the following statement "To indiscriminately send unsolicited, unwanted, irrelevant, or inappropriate messages, especially commercial advertising in mass quantities. Noun: electronic "junk mail"."
Going forward, anyone found in violation of this will have instant messaging disabled - no questions asked. Users can forward PMs to moderators to report spam.
