Funny thing is that as far as I know no one a long time ago said "Poof! Here's a dictionary. These are all the words that will ever be and can ever be used." So since we have a need for this word (a plural form of the word 'weekly' to denote a recurring event that happens once a week) we have every right to bring forth this new word into our common and shared language.

So can we decide on 'weeklies' or 'weeklys' as the correct spelling?

I'd think 'weeklies' would be a more correct answer, personally, since there is an entry for that word already and 'weeklys' does not exist yet.
Maybe we can submit an additional definition for 'weeklies' to Webster, the diety of the English language?

Maybe we need a poll?

Or maybe just maybe the grammar nazis can chill out? I'm trying to figure out if it is more rude to call out people on misspellings and grammatical errors when the meaning of their communication is rather obvious, or if being scholarly and pointing those errors out is justified.

I definitely think pointing out errors as a retorting 'dis' to discredit someone's point in an argument is basically a low blow and majorly uncivilized, but if you are honestly just trying to keep conversation and communications at a respectable, scholarly level then maybe it is okay.

first of all screw grammer nazi's. Hate you all!
Now if it was a section name however you really do need to stick to weeklies because lys is a completly illegal suffix in the english language (I think). It is a basic rule ly is ok but to plural it must go to lies. However in basic discussion WHO GIVES A RATS ASS!

The only way to keep the Grammar Nazis in check and down from their high and mighty, grammier than thou level is to respond in a pedantic manner.

I'm with you, 'weeklies' seems most logical.

You're just jealous. As is quite apparent, you have no grammar skills of your own, and you are simply envious of those of us who do. ;-)
