i had the grilled cheese friday night and was totally blown away...
i just really wanted to see how jeff would do a grilled cheese...
grilled cheese, copa, tomato bisque, and frites (SP?)...
i cant remember what kind of cheese, but it was the best grilled cheese ive ever had. this is def on my list of favorites in town.
totally unique and filling, like something that would have been on the menu at the original lola.

Kat's favorite meal there is the grilled cheese. She says it's the best tomato soup she's ever had. I typically lean to the meatier meals but plan on giving it a shot the next time I'm there!!

not to diss this guy's food, cuz he's quite good, and I haven't had his version yet, but imo, nothing is coming close to Melt's sandwiches. Wink

yeah i like melts stuff.... some people i know do not like melt at all.... which i think is weird.... its like, we live in cleveland, how could you not like comfort food... its like *gourmet* paninis or something. they have good soups too. honestly, its too heavy to eat all the time though.... unless you have a super duper metabolism and dont care about your cholesterol.... Wink

if you like melt, you'll like touch.... touch is a little more on the fine dining side of things, but priced like melts menu.

Actually, it IS that good (IMO). Whereas Melt's are tasty---they can sometimes taste like you're chewing on a stick of butter. Jeff manages to make it nice and cheesy, and buttery, without that side-effect.

essential, imo, to top-of-the line grilled cheese!!! Cool

I will get around to checking this dude's take on it, though.

Oh, I know all about that action. Wink I've been a food snob for about 12 years now...I would never put Melt in that category, and quite frankly, as tasty as it is, I wouldn't put Touch there either. But I'm not rich - I can't afford outlandish prices on a super regular basis, and fully appreciate well-made, food that's done from the heart, regardless of cost. As long as who's making it is well into it, then I'm game. And both those joints qualify in that dep't, and it shows in how good the food is.

Every year that goes by, I eat a little more healthier, I eat less shit (no candy, no soda, hardly any sweets at all & FUCK fast food), and am so much happier for it. I had my run with bacon double cheeseburgers and shitty food in general for 25 years. I just got sick of it and realized how awesome cooking is, and how healthy, real food actually tastes better, contrary to my childhood ideas that it probably sucked. My demand for quality keeps going up...in beer, wine, single malts, and most definitely food.

I can never understand why people have problems with such an outlook, yet I always have to hear shit from people here about how I'm a 'beer snob' because I wouldn't even piss in a Miller Lite bottle, much less drink it. Or how I'm too demanding when it comes to what I want around Cleveland. It's like, if having good taste in life is something to be looked down upon, then knock yourself out with that taco bell grade D reconstituted, institution-level meat product 3 nights a week...just don't come crying when early onset diabetes knocks on your door.

I just don't get how people just put up with mediocrity and worse when it comes to food and alcohol. Confused Demand better.

i can. a chic wrote it. thats a chic thing to critique.
but i think she just mentioned it b/c its her job.

the bathrooms are really nothing to critique either way....
maybe she was hoping for fresh flowers and free tampons?
