Until it becomes a problem, you can log into your profile and change your username.

One of the reasons this sight is often daunting is because outsiders assume there are people hiding behind fake names on this site. I've used the name TYMEZUP for about 12 years on the internet and a simple google search would reveal my identity. However, in a climate where people often speak their mind this has the potential to be bad.

In the spirit of being accountable for speaking out, I am changing my user name to a name where strangers can instantly recognize who I am. I invite anyone else to do this as well to help promote a healthy community.

I may change my opinion of all this, but as for now, our community is rather bitchy towards newbies. If someone is doing some shit talking, people shouldn't be left wondering.

ADDITIONALLY... if your name is out front and STRANGERS know who you are they are likely to read your posts.

I'm in a dilemma...I have no problem putting my real name, but I'm kind of attached to my screen name...I post EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE under that name...I swear net people know me by that. thoughts?

well that one night at abbasso 3 people accosted me about it, i had no idea who it was. got me to come back here and see WTF the deal was.

i mix up some of the names on here and forget who's who, but i'm getting senile so i chalk it up to that.

Ya know, I understand that.

I may have jumped the gun on this a little bit, but for now I think it can only be a good thing if more regulars who are in the public eye used their real names. If it helps people looking for information to find it, then that's good.

Arite. So I'll probably turn this user name changing thing off before I leave on Wednesday. I appreciate those of you who use your real names as your dj names changing them for the forum. THANK YOU!!!! I think it adds credibility.

That doesn't mean you can't change names, if you request it, but many people seem unhappy with "screen name of the day" Wink
