DJ and/or Live PA: DJ, LIVE PA
I DJ all vinyl. Have done 2x4 sets with Boompsie and Encyclopedia Brown. Working on a multimedia live PA with Greg Cross called "D&G" incorporating video clips triggered by Midi hardware including Korg ES-1, Roland JX-305, Maschine, A&H Xone:4D, other synths, Kaossilators, Kaos Pad, other effects processors and tube amps.
Type(s) of music: House, Techno, Tribal, Breakbeats, Ambient, Oldschool and Backpacker Hip Hop, Minimal, Experimental, Experimental Dubstep, Electro, Downtempo, 50's Brazillian Orchestra... I've got records from the 1920's through last week.
Derek Carney has been collecting vinyl for two and a half decades, and has been mixing since 1993. He played his first party in a dirty illegal warehouse thrown by Freebass and the Cybercrew in Milwaukee in 1994 alongside Chicago's House Preservation Society members Mystic Bill (Relief Records) and Davey Dave. Since then he has played a variety of genres at parties in Chicago and Detroit (with the Tree House Collective in the mid-Nineties), St. Louis, Indianapolis, Appleton, Kenosha, Akron, Pittsburgh (Dieselboy's house parties in the early nineties), and his hometown Cleveland. In Northeast Ohio, he has played at one offs at 1300 Gallery, The Lime Spider, Annabells, Metropolis, Boiler Room, B-side, Grog Shop, Touch Supper Club, Interbelt, Abruzzi's, Purple Haze, The Symposium, The Attik, The Agora, Twist Social Club, Abbasso and Spawntaneous events among others as well as holding residencies at Dragonfly Lounge, 2527, Wish, Krave, Beachcomber and Tiki Bar, and The View. He has played on line-ups with a diverse group of DJs including DJ Rap, DBX, Traxx, Boo Williams, and DJ Earth. He hosted a radio show called Generator and briefly co-hosted Inaudible on WCSB 89.3FM, as well as guest DJing on both The Raver's Edge and BeatMatrix on WRUW 91.1FM. Dwreck has been producing electronic music since 2000 in his basement. He also provides a visual experience for special events as Wallpaper Visuals creating unique video pieces using found footage as well as imagery he shoots with a DV camera. He also often adds imagery using multiple 8mm and 16mm film projectors using both found footage and self-shot film footage. Wallpaper Visuals has accompanied Ferry Corsten, Punisher, LTJ Bukem, Andy Caldwell, Ectomorph & Solvent, Bailey, Fixx, Inbum Cho, Angel Alanis, and more. Two of Derek's short film projects played at the Cleveland Museum of Art for their Fast Forward program in the Spring of 2005. He's currently working on a multimedia live PA with Greg Cross called "D&G" incorporating video clips triggered by Midi hardware including Korg ES-1, Roland JX-305, Maschine, A&H Xone:4D, other synths, Kaossilators, Kaos Pad, other effects processors and tube amps. Derek's eclectic taste can be summed up in the following quote: "DJing is like a refridgerator magnet poem," and you never know what he'll mix in next.
