If you'd love to revisit 1998 or missed it and want to see what it was all about (well, at least some parts of it) you'll love this show.

...i just had to say something. Razz

Hey fellas -

first off, Trance is only for those who respect rythm, beat and drive. I am not knocking other music, but don't hate Trance.

To those who actually apprectiate this music, what do you guys think? If you think that this will be a good event, I have this HOT Ukrainian chick I can pursuade to come in. She likes trance, but only if this is going to be a good event.

Any thoughts??

Consider that 95% of people who dislike trance used to like or respect it at one point or another.

As someone who used to have a great deal of respect for trance, I can honestly say that using the words TRANCE and RHYTHM in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

To that end, this will be a great PARTY and dj concert. It *will* be packed, and there are other options on the patio if you don't want to hear trance. Moda kicks ass and is the best sounding club in the city.

plus this is an all ages event...come out...have fun...share your music/demos ect...educate the kids

what else is new... the important stuff especailly about educating the kids falls on deaf ears...and you all whine the scene is dying..we now see why.

regardless what trash people talk we'll be there demo's in hand showing these kids "our future" a night to remember.

I agree. As much as I hate trance, its what got me into EDM in the first place. Cleveland needs shows like this to get folks interested in this music. So keep it down, You little closet candy ravers. Razz Where's glowstick Jamie when You need him?

With regards to this whole aspect of the thread (and I really don't want it to go on much more of a detour) I see Nikki's point, but don't necessarily agree with it completely. I'm not going to get into that but I will say, however, that Paul Oakenfold did do a *lot* for this scene and while he may be resting on his crown of laurels and living the high life(like a lot of people) he does deserve credit. Deep Dish also deserves a lot of credit, for NUMEROUS reasons. Corsten I have nothing to say about.

I agree STRONGLY with the all ages aspect. I have said it for 5 years now that clubs are shooting themselves in the foot by not educating people. The reason for degredation is 21 year olds jumping into clubbing expecting a high school dance. (See the old "AFTER-PROM" post on cleveland.com).

I don't agree that Trance is still an "in point" for electronic music. That genre has been the primary in-road for quite a while and we all know things are cyclical and that things change. Currently I believe that trance is the "stereotype" that all "techno haters" hold towards dance music. For the masses to again appreciate dance music then that stereotype music be broken. Just as "alternative" rock of the 90's broke the stereotype that AC/DC, BON JOVI, WHITESNAKE, etc had set for rock music.

Definately, however, some kids that are there aren't going to know Trance from House from Techno to breaks. If they get exposed to something new or fresh from a demo... then alright for them! Why dog a chance to promote and reach new faces --- unless your goal is to entertain only your friends?

the all ages aspect of this event is interesting. i wonder if this will go over well. well good luck to all the players involved in this, even though i have my personal thoughts on oakenfold he did do a lot for the scene but i personally cannot stand the type that he plays but music is subjective so to each their own. also like doug said this will be good exposure for edm to the all ages crew so hopefully that reels in more people to the magic of edm.

One of my favorite records, Be My Friend (which is on one of Marquess Wyatt's mix cds) is on Oakenfold's Perfecto label.
