Souldega Music &
3 Degrees Global Present:

WE CALL IT HOME
A dream line-up of international house talent, one of the largest ever assembled in Detroit.

PAUL JOHNSON
Dust Traxx | Chicago

Born and raised in the birthplace of House Music, Paul Johnson who has over forty five 12” releases (on Dust Traxx Chicago, Undaground Therapy, Cajual/Relief, Dance Mania, Riveria, Full House, Confidential, IHR, Peacefrog, and Djax) and six full-length albums (on Nite Life Collective, Relief, Moody, Peacefrog, and ACV), is one of our hometown heroes. Recording under the aliases Traxxmen with Robert Armani, Brother 2 Brother with Gant Garrard, and Yonkapin on his own making both deep disco house excursions and techno bangers, Paul is known world wide for setting and resetting the direction of House Music time and time again. “Playing With a Rubber Band”, “Just Whistle”, “Burnin’ for Your Yearnin’”, and of course, “Get, Get Down” (which, by the way, came out on Moody, Defected, Fuel, Legato, and Rise), have all become part of our hearts, our minds, and our souls. His remix work for Craig Alexander, Gant Garrard, Studio Nova, Stacy Kidd, Joey Beltram, Green Velvet, Armando, CC Penniston, CZR, Ron Trent, K-Alexi, and Steve Poindexter has made their way into all the big jocks boxes, some of them remain there to this day. Presently working on a new full-length album, Paul, when on the decks, promises every time to take us on a Chicago House wild ride as only he can incorporating Gospel House, Garage, and Chicago Trax as only sir Johnson can!

GRANT NELSON (First Detroit Appearance)
Swing City | London, UK

Grant’s Production / Remix of Negrocan’s “Cada Vez” released on Swing City in 1999 has become a Universal smash topping the pop charts in several countries and has so far totalled World-Wide sales of nearly 2 million copies. Grant has remixed and re-produced songs for a multitude of Artists. He unwillingly takes a breather from the mixes every now and again so he can concentrate time on his own productions. Unwillingly due to the fact that he enjoys tampering with other people’s work. His remixography gives a little insight into why he is constantly in demand as a remixer. He has done remixes for James Ingram, Frankie Knuckles, Jameriqui, Jill Scott, Jodeci, Kelis, James Brown, Roy Ayers, Goldie and Masters at Work. He also managed to find time to get on production & mix duties for the hit UK band Mis-Teeq with their single “Be With Me”. The single debuted at number 4 in the UK charts. Grant is currently in the midst of production on his first ever ‘Grant Nelson’ album. Involving a plethora of international vocalists and musicians he aims to have the project ready for release in early 2005. As always he continues his production & remix work with recent clients including Reel People & Brand New Heavies. 2004 saw Grant’s busiest ever Djing schedule which has taken him all over the World and earned him a nomination as ‘Best House DJ’ at the Urban Music Awards.

RON CARROLL (Live Vocals | DJ Set)
Body Music | Chicago

Starting off his career in the early 1980's spinning at his own dance club The Bangin' Enterprize on the South Side of Chicago, Ron Carroll, just two years into the game, was opening for Lil' Louis, Mike Dunn, and the legendary Ron Hardy. From his beginnings in House Music he wanted to use his experience singing in the church choir and sing Gospel lyrics over House tracks. He headed to the 1994 WMC and crossed paths with none other than his musical mentor, Little Louie Vega. This working friendship gave him the chance to write a Billboard #1 Dance Hit "I Get Lifted" for Barbara Tucker. He has worked alongside such producers as Frankie Knuckles, Mousse T. & Boris Dlugosh, Marc Kitchen, and Maurice Joshua. In that same production company he worked with Destiny's Child, Adeva, Kim English, Kathy Brown, and many others. An introduction to UC/Afterhours began a longstanding outlet for his songwriting skills as well as giving him the chance to be not only the writer, but also the artist as well on cuts like "Sounds" and "Stronger". 2001 brought the dawn of his new imprint ''Body Music'' where we can count on him to knock out hit after hit with the greatest of ease. In 2004 Ron teamed up with Hardsoul and released the one of the biggest hits in house music of the year, Back Together which he sang vocals on. Ron consistently boosts his musical success and continues to be the embodiment of House Music.

JON CUTLER (First Detroit Appearance)
Distant Music | NYC

As front man and owner of Distant Music, Jon Cutler has been steadily carving a path in the dance music community. It has been almost 10 years since the first Distant Music release hit retail stores around the world. The days of running the label from his Brooklyn apartment have come and gone. He has established the Distant name into a quality label and distribution company. His 2002 smash hit "It's Your's" put Jon's production skills on the map and was 2002's biggest house music hit. He has done remix projects for Bob Sinclair, Nathan Haines, Tortured Soul, Kathy Brown and kim English to name a few. With the success of the label and recent productions and remixes Jon’s unique style of Djing has also been in demand around the world. “I was big on Hip Hop when I first started spinning so I in cooperate a lot of the technique into my house sets. No Scratching” Although the Gigs and productions have all started to come together Jon’s first concern has and always will be to maintain the label. Jon plans to move Distant Music further into the CD market for the new year releasing several Distant compilations and mixed CD’s. His set at this year's WMC was hearlded as one of the best at the conference. Jon is at the top of his game and his set will prove it.

KASKADE (First Detroit Appearance)
Om Records | San Francisco

A lot has been written, said, and felt about this young man and his music in the past year. The worldwide media, DJ's, radio stations and music loving public adore him. He's been praised as "The Best Up & Coming Artist of 2003" from URB MAGAZINE and as crafting "A captivating debut" by BILLBOARD, but still unchanged, humble, and low key in flip-flops, Kaskade, better known as Ryan Raddon, has so much more love to give. The new album gives the listener a glimpse into the deepness of Kaskade the DJ and producer. The past few years have been a whirlwind of success; though Kaskade has appeared on many of Om's coveted compilations, nothing prepared him for the widespread praise that came in the wake of his debut album "It's You, It's Me." The former Lazy Dog duo Jay Hannan and Ben Watt sent their accolades after the then unreleased track blew the roof off their Sunday night London gathering. Marques Wyatt extended his appreciation as well, grabbing dibs on remixing duties for a future single. As of late, Kaskade has spent many nights commanding the decks on the international nightclubbing circuit. In addition, Roger Sanchez befriended Kaskade licensing two tracks for his mix "Release Yourself 2003", and if one needed more proof of his talent, Jay Hannan has chosen Kaskade to debut his new label, Society Heights, with the "Soundtrack to the Soul" standout "In this Life". Whether it's the uplifting sounds, organic instrumentals, catchy vocals or the diversity of his sound, Kaskade's music embodies life, love and happiness.

As of recent, "the Mad Thinker" has been relentless in developing his newest creation, production team, 'aid to the souLLess'. 'aid to the souLLess', food for the soulful(silent), is made up of the trio DJ Emmaculate, whom "tMT" refers to as "kid genius", DJ FLX, fellow 3°Ultra resident dj, and "the Mad Thinker" himself. The theory behind the production team is that everyone possesses soul, some possess more than others, nevertheless; the music provided by 'aid to the soulless" will reach the soul, and once the soul is reached, music previously listened to just doesn't sound the same. As for people who possess much soul, or "the soulful", the music provided by 'aid to the souLLes' will take them wherever they would like it to! Overall, "the Mad Thinker" approaches every endeavor strictly from his heart. He patiently waits for the day that he is able to play records in all seven continents ensuring that house music with soul is a universal language.
