editors from a pool of thousands of entries - will compete for a panel
of judges (Joe Satriani; Steve Lukather; Lukather's son, Trevor

editor Jude Gold; and a special guest to be announced). The finalists

and tastemakers across North America. This event will take place on
June 10 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Museum's Fourth Floor
Theater.
Educational Programming

June 9, 2:00 p.m. - A discussion with Grandmaster Flash at the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. During hip-hop's nearly 30-year
history, few names have become as well known to music lovers across
the globe as that of Grandmaster Flash. His pioneering use of the
turntables as a musical instrument, which helped elevate the status of
the DJ to a masterful, artistic position, and assembling one of the
earliest and greatest rap groups of all time - The Furious Five - are
some of the hallmarks of a career which has extended from the Bronx in
the mid-1970s to all corners of the globe in the 21st century.
June 9, 5:00 p.m. - A discussion with Seymour Stein at the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The Chairman of Sire Records, Stein
co-founded the label in 1966 and has been one of the most successful
and influential executives in the music business ever since. His
ability to discover new talent led to signings of many groundbreaking
artists such as the Ramones, Madonna, the Pretenders, Talking Heads,
Seal, Depeche Mode, Ice-T, the Cure, the Smiths, kd Lang and Barenaked
Ladies. The label is still going strong after nearly 40 years and
still innovative with recent singings including the Von Bondies, HIM,
Regina Spektor, the Fags and the Veronicas.
These events are free with Museum admission. More programs to be
announced for June 10.

I'm rather looking forward to this event. WRUW is working with the CMJ/Rock Hal folks to get a WRUW booth set up and do the occasional live broadcast from the main field. Also cool stuff like ticket giveaways, etc. We're still working out the details, so none of this is official yet, but hopefully it will work out. It's looking to be a cool event.

Did I know you liked the pixies? I didn't know you liked the pixies...

I used to love the pixies back in my whole sonic youth, pixies, the whole world should heed the "deep" message of pump up the volume "phase".

then I kind of lost interest and I'm not quite sure why---I think I started getting into more of the industrial stuff then.

yeah, i'm really excited for this event. i hope clevelanders support it and it continues to grow here each year. the cmj week in nyc is legendary with dozens of amazing bands and djs playing each year. if this cleveland version takes off, i'm sure we can expect the same to happen here in the future.

USED TO love the Pixies?! How can you USED TO love the Pixies?! Yeah, right... and I USED TO know how to ride a bike. Sheesh!

Go towards the light, my friend... you are getting sleepy... tic... tic... tic... you will listen to everything I say... the Pixies are still the best band ever thought of... when I snap my finger you will awaken and you will immediately find your Doolittle CD or your CD Maxi-single of Alec Eiffel or illegally download the Pixies entire catalog off some peer to peer network and remember how f-ing amazing the Pixies always were and always will be...

snap!
