Oh, I almost forgot one little thing that truly dates me.
On 26 March of that year, William J. Bell and wife Lee Philip Bell debuted a new program on CBS TV. Here's how it began...
A lone semi made its way along the interstate from Chicagoland. Its next stop: Genoa City WI, pop. 300,000, seat of the County of Walworth. In the passenger seat was a hitchhiker named Brad Eliot, a person fleeing from a past he chose to forget. Genoa City was as good a place to start anew.
Meanwhile, at a fancy yet cozy restaurant in Downtown G-C named Pierre's, a young medical student named William Foster II, or "Snapper" as his friends & family called him, lent an ear to waitress Sally McGuire:
Sally (more to herself): Kind of a drag, isn't it? Stuck in a boring place like Genoa City. God I feel so restless...
That Emmy Award-winning program--and one of my favorites--still airs today:
THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
(see, I told you I'd date myself!)
