| | | Speedy J (live pa) | | | (Mute, Plus8, Collabs)

The man whose constant sonic explorations break boundries, defy logic and create new definitions returns to Detroit, this time with a full-on video show. Beginning with his earlier Plus 8 recordings, Jochem Paap has produced some of the most interesting and revolutionary albums in the past decade. His live shows are as astonishing as they are rare in North America, and his ability to drive crowds into a complete frenzy is unmatched, often drawing the comparison of Paap being the insane conductor of unruly machines let loose for an hour or so. Never content to abide by the 4/4 beat that has often defined and sometimes handcuffed techno, Paap has explored sounds from one end of the spectrum to the other. The seminal release "Ginger" stood apart from it's abrasive contemporaries of the time with smooth, gliding rhythms, while others such as "Public Energy No. 1" stretched, if not obliterated the boundries of modern techno as it delved into freeform and disregarded conventional techniques. His latest releases have seen Paap going back to his earlier comforts in dancefloor related material, yet still intense enough to bend minds in a fashion that only he can. Seeing this techno virtuoso at the helm of a rig such as this in a venue as sublime as the masonic temple fountain ballroom is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

| | | Kero (live pa) | | | (Det.Und, Downwards, Sender, Shitkatapult, Bpitch Control, Ghostly)

From Detroit/Windsor area is born another groundbreaking artist unwilling to settle for the sounds of mediocrity and cliche so common in today’s electronic music universe. Kero a.k.a. Sohail Azad was brought up on the underground sounds of Detroit/Windsor throughout the better part of the 90s. Inspired by unusual sonic landscapes and complex sequencing techniques kero developed a taste for the more experimental side of electronic music, bringing the sounds of autechre, aphex twin and richard devine to the virgin ears of many young Detroiters. Armed with a talent for raw digital mayhem kero immersed himself in a constant production frenzy, developing his unique signature sound blending complex and experimental programming tactics with the more harsh and dark sonic sculpture of harder loop tek. You can find Kero’s releases on German labels bpitch control, shitkatapult, sender records and detroit labels’ lowres records, det.und, ghostly international and feed the machine. Come and check out kero on an amazing sound system in a beautiful space.
