This show has been officially cancelled.

For those that would like to see, we do have signed contracts and receipts for our deposits, we get receipts for deposits. If you are interested in seeing them, come to the club and ask for me.

But the short of the long is that Michael Mellon booked the April 30th show knowing full well that we had a binder, contract, and deposit with Skribble for the 7th.

The post for the show with Mellon was actually posted notifying everyone that our show was cancelled before the agent even told us that our show was cancelled!

So our options are as follows:

1. Cancel completely.

2. Reschedule the free show. (as opposed to the $20 show on the 30th)

Even though he is not booked for April 28th or 29th, May 5th or 7th, the agency is making us wait longer because he is already booked here on the 30th, so it will have to be some time later in May.

Bump...This Thursday!!

The night before Christmas Eve...everyone should have Friday off so come and check this out...Skribble will not disappoint...he will be playing both house and hip hop!!!

Trust me, he is bringing 9, yes, 9 crates of records and will play until someone tells him to stop!

His rider is one of the most complicated ones that we've had, but not quite as intricate as the one for Louie's...

Should play Krs One - The temple of hip hop album.

Most instructional thing you could drop on those mofos.

For those who don't know; it's a series of speeches Krs did on the subject of hip hop, it's history, culture, meaning and life.

9 crates at let's say 80 record per box ..... with only 50 records getting play per box and only one track per vinyl that's ... 450 tunes ...

Party going till what ... 3 .... that leaves time for 240 minutes of play from 11 till 3 ....

About 30 seconds per track then .... hummm

That'll be educational Razz !

I can't wait.

So how many people does Mr Skribble have to fetch his records for him as he's mixing his nine crates of records?

Just found this article...very interesting...

EXCERPT FROM PROFESSIONAL DJ MAGAZINE, AUGUST 2002:

SPOTLIGHT ON: DJ SKRIBBLE
by Brock Armstrong

DJ Skribble is the consumate professional DJ, prepared for any situation that arises. Rather than accept the cold digital sound of CDs, Skribble soldiers on in his support of vinyl, bringing his entire collection of about 700 records to each and every gig. You heard right -- 700 records!

A request for early '90s ska? No problem!

How about some Big Daddy Kane? Got it!

Mayhaps a little 17th century Irish folk music? In the crate! (Hard to believe, but true -- we checked it for our ourselves, ladies + gents.)

No one can ever claim that Skribble did not please the crowd. He sets a rigid personal goal to please every single listener for at least five minutes throughout the course of the night. He has even been known to abruptly switch to a new song upon spying a dour face on the dance floor.

"A DJ should be able to go into any kind of party and adapt to any kind of situation," explains Skrib. "What makes a great DJ is the ability to play for anybody." Have truer words ever been said?

Skribble backs up this philosophy with action. He has been known to play free gigs in the least savory of situations, including a guerrilla camp in Rwanda, a sock-hop in Western Kentucky, and the annual convention for the Deaf Americans Society in Cleveland, Ohio.

"A true DJ can rock five hours of Big Band or Square Dancing just as well as Hardcore Techno," asserts Skribble. "Hell, I could even beat-mix silence if I had to."

Up and coming DJs, take note. Is it any coincidence that wedding DJs have the most gigs and revenue? Your purpose is to serve the crowd; you are a living, breathing jukebox. Stop being selfish by playing what YOU think is good. Time to put aside your petty notions of artistry, get out of those small, dirty lounges, and give the people what they want!

Don't miss next month's spotlight on MARK RONSON.
