I wouldn't exactly agree with East side being "dead" BSides hold it down with weeklies on Monday, Friday, Saturday and even Sunday. That's where you'll find most of the hipsters and Grog Shop always has bands or something going on. Dragonfly currently has monthlies Home, Lotus Soul (mostly house oriented) Go and Impure has a monthly the 2nd saturday of every month where they play across the board.

I mean yea, bside.

I figured indie would be all over Waterloo and Tremont. Is Tremont still tha yuppie central of Cleveland?

Is there a distinction between hipsters, yuppies, and indie, here in Cleveland?

If we going to go there, I think it is more along the lines of uncontrolled teenage pregnancy that dwarfed the 2001-2004 neoraver population and the survivors did not want to be associated with the resulting septic filth.

Actually you are both right....Cleveland and Columbus don't really connect in bringing talent to both cities. Tru does with the company that does big name acts for both here and C'bus but its only on the weekends and Tru hasn't done anything here in a minute since the move out west but now that he's moved back...we'll have to see what happens next...

As for the distinction between hipsters and everyone else....just go out some more...you'll figure that one out...

Isn't there a rooftop venue there as well, NYC-style?

I heard they have swinger parties on the second floor pretty often or something like that...

How about some popular Cleveland music-scene message boards?

I've notices people mentioned loli on here, but would be interested of other scene's forums too (e.g. indie, hiphop, etc...)

Come on...top five? I'll knock it down to top ten.

What is that venue where Spy used to be (btw, brain fart here, what was the venue called BEFORE Spy?)?

I know barfly is always hopping, it is just about impossible to move inside there... that gyro joint right by them is probably my fav place to stop in to keep the alc down...anyhoo, Barfly vibrates its fucking walls. Holy crap! That makes Barfly the IT spot for all the pretty people then, right?

Funny how Cleveland's HipHop systematically moves town to New York, isn't it?

How strong is the Cleveland-Pittsburgh promoter connection?

not very, as far as sharing talent-wise. cleveland has stronger weeklies, pittsburgh blows it out of the water 3-4 times a year (see: the humanaut crew)

As far as I care, unless you have few hundred grand at your disposal every month 3-4x a year is how you throw a blow-it-out-of-the-water shows.

I'm not very up to speed on the names. After a while everything turns into blur: I'm not seeing any super huge names on http://www.humanaut.net/

I looked at their events, and because they do not link their past shows in events to archives, I just skimmed a few and found nothing big.

When you say "blows it out of the water", would you want to guesstimate how many attendees each of these 3-4 shows bring out?

I see. So, are you the guys the reason that this board is dead and that people like Humachine show up here to shoot shit with you guys?

Rolling Eyes
This board is dead because (of Facebook, and) the Cleveland scene is somewhat dead because the city of Cleveland and its surrounding metropolitan area is poor and miserable. Its hardcore ravers, of mostly lower socioeconomic status, are usually broke (and unemployed) and have little disposable income for partying.

As long as I'm doing shoutouts, hehe, this goes out to Alexandru for inspiring this thread by posting a reply in my Where are my Asians at?! thread.

200-350 in correctly-sized venues with extra care for the sound

there have been more than a few that have been nothing short of epic

humanaut does shit for the heads, not the herds and its proper as fuck
