I recently acquired a smooth little HP mini netbook much less than it retails that I will probably be listing a little later today on ebay. I mean, don't get me wrong, I would have really enjoyed to have around house/about so i can read boring non-fictional ebooks and my Google RSS feeds (mainly the Browns' ones), but at this point it's definitely a commodity that I don't need vs. important bills.

I'll probably be in the market for something similar down the road... and don't even mind its running the new windows [--though i'd probably put linux on anyways]. IMHO, the specs to price ratio of netbooks vs what the ipad currently offers doesn't compare, touch screen and all. That, and since i switched from iphone to android OS, i couldn't fathom going back to it an apple run mobile OS again. Seriously, i used to have to jailbreak my iphone just to do stuff that i did standard from the day i got my Nexus One.

Personally, i'll be holding out for the android's version of the iPad coming out in the near future...

As i await the android 2.2 update on my n1, i stumbled upon this regarding the coming update:

"Another area where Google has made major investments in performance is the Android Web browser. The company has brought its recent optimization work on the V8 JavaScript engine to Froyo, leading to a 3x speedup. The company contends that Froyo has the "world's fastest mobile browser." To back up this claim, Google conducted a demo during the keynote which showed a Froyo-powered Nexus One crushing the iPad in a SunSpider JavaScript benchmark."

My Stock (1.6) G1 is embarrassing. It takes 30 seconds to bring the home screen and almost everything else is unusably slow. I haven't had time to root it but the phone is almost useless the way it is, and the reception/voice quality/speaker is trash when I'm in the data center.

But the camera button is mapped by default to next gnuscreen window in ssh client Smile

when i had my iphone(s), i did enough jailbreaking and blah blah (blah continues...) to care enough to wanna do anything similar to my N1. I can do everything i want as is ( Tethering, custom-izability, taser, etc).

When i first got it in mail, it had 2.1 allready on it (JANUARY!)...but been waiting since. Please

Can't complain much about my phone v. price ...it was def worth returning that Moto Droid (verizon) i had for like 3 weeks and getting the N1 right as it came out. Cheaper + smaller + Faster. Only bit, is that it's internal storage is pretty limited (if your like me and like to have 100+ apps installed hahaha), and the exteranl storage was only a 4gm microSD (which i still havent replaced yet...)

Tone told me the other day google offically is pulling the plug on the N1...apparently ruined by their own inept ability to properly market a top-tier electronics gadget, or something. Rolling Eyes

article i linked said recently was debuted for Google head honcho's convention er whatever...Thats a sure sign it should be soon, alone. That, and every month since 2.1 release, came news that the release was just weeks away. Postponed last i heard till May?

Not much longer im sure.

FYI, alex, it may not be universally pushed on all devices (ie G1??)

id say stay posted @ androidforums.com
