since i was old enough to enjoy it, i've always went to Goodmans (off brookpark) for corned beef sandwiches. now that i live in fairview, its a bit out of the way. are there any really good deli's out this way or is it still worth my drive to go out there?

also, are there any good lil hidden spots on the east side that i might be missing?

Max's In Rocky River (on Detroit up the street from Heinen's) has good corned beef, but you pay for what you get.

Max's corned beef is in the $7 range IIRC (I'll have to check a menu when I get home) and their sandwiches are pretty big...normal-size rye bread, at least an inch of meat (probably closer to an inch and a half or two inches). After one of their sandwiches I'm pretty much a lump on the couch.

jacks deli @ cedar & green, last time i was here i was really turned of buy their pricing, $14 for a lbs of corned beef! vienna is like $7

the BEST is - vienna beef at about 81st and carnegie, this is a park and pick up spot, i will also add, this is who supplies everyone with their corned beef, their prices are very cheap and you will be able to buy everything else as well deli meat wise.

they also have fresh baked breads and anything else you can think of from a deli. they have a long history in cleveland

Max's, although delish, does corn beef no justice (wussy portions)....You need a real deli....

Try Barringtons downtown across from the Justice Center on W.3 or Slyman's on St. Clair or even Corky and Lenny's on the Eastside on Cedar is good stuff....There are a handful of good places out there, but I cant remember them all.

I believe we had a thread on this topic before here on CNL.

I think the Eddie Sand's Blueline Cafe makes a wicked Reuben. Everything I've had there has been tops, especially their corn chowder. Mmmm... chowdery. (20255 Van Aken Blvd. in Shaker Heights)
