Apparently there's some stuff goin down about my picture posting, I also got an interesting tidbit of code at the top of my CNL window after posting in our thread...attached is a link to a screenhot of what it looked like. The code then disappeared when I went to post this thread...

I see the problems with images are solved.

This other error... is it happening on a regular basis? Every once in a while I see something like this when the site slows or the php booster on the site slows, or something with sql timesout. If it happens daily, I need to know, otherwise it could be your browser cache reloading an error that only happened one time.

Brandon's a leet haxxor and running with debug on Wink

But yeah, that text is normal HTTP communication saying the page IS loading fine. Then it prints phpinfo and dumps the cookies for this site.

I've never experienced it, but it's either a glitch in the matrix or the poorly coded phpBB skin you were complaining about before. Or something buggy with the SQL installation... I don't dare touch table troubleshooting Surprised

The hex scattered throughout the page may be misinterpreted color coding for the skin - notably the gradient fill. That's why the page looks broken.

Back to my paper Sad

No, the problem with Brandon's image is not solved. His still is showing up as a broken link image box to myself and it appears that Chris Eberhart had the same problem seeing his image as I did. The same image worked, though, when Jason D and myself posted it using the board's img command.

unless by solved you meant this:

Regarding the free admission pass, it is apparently formatted as a Macintosh JPG and isn't viewable on my XP PC - regardless of browser used. There's ways around that - I had to use Irfanview to open it and print it.

Errors experienced on Firefox include: The image “http://homepage.mac.com/brandonandrews/.Public/FREE-ADMISSION_CARDS.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

IE simply gives the infamous red X.

I myself am not sure what the problem being referred to is exactly...

If using <img src=".... to insert an image doesn't work and [img] does, that's because HTML is disabled.

URL's are automatically formatted to be clickable by phpBB, not because HTML is enabled.[/img]

HTML is disabled right now. I'm waiting for them to release a new version of phpbb before I do any serious work. I want to re-install again (and preserve data of course) with the next release.

The problem is, if you turn on html, the quote feature doesn't work. I had it fixed before I had to reinstall last time, but apparently the way the fix stores things in html isn't backwards compatible. So I'm puttin off installing the fix because I don't want them to change it last minute before the next release.

I think the really good coders are working on the newest version of phpbb, and troubleshooting this version doesn't seem to be a priority.

Good call on the hex, alex, it might be color codes.

Derek, yeah, the problem with the image was definately that it wasn't saved as a format compatible with pc.

I've seen that header error pop up occasionally, though not recently. There is a php booster installed that could have generated that, I'm guessing.

Well as a plus towards phpBB, I absolutely despise the standard vBulletin look... and love the look and flow of this site. It's why I come back! Wink

So this may be a question to do my own research on...but are we saying that a Mac makes a different .jpeg than a PC? I've never had this problem before when I post flyers and I've never used anything but my mac to make the flyers...

What if I were to change the file to something like a .png or a .gif?

That's a separate issue all together...I'm talking about posting the flyers on the forum here, there was some trouble with that...why is it that if I use imageshack.us to link the pics it doesn't show, but the same flyer uploaded through pictub.com works? If it's a matter of just not using imageshack then I'm okay with that, but Pictub resizes the flyer down making the type illegible...

The flyer that Dan posted on myspace didn't show up either. It is definately an image problem and an imcompatibility in jpg formats between mac and pc. Use the "save for web" function in photoshop and I imagine that will take care of it no matter what platform.
