i've enjoyed the calming blue and yummy taste of Pacific East in Coventry a few times.

if i had friends that didn't hate fish or rice, i'd like to get the boat!

Amy and I were at Pacific Blue last night. Sushi is high quality.

I love Sushi Rock, but I always leave with a tummy ache -- probably from one of their spicy rolls that I always seem to order.

I've always thought that you can judge the quality of a sushi place by how good their saba (mackerel) sashimi is. There seems to be more of a detectable variance with saba then with something run of the mill, like tuna or salmon.

another pleasant spot for sushi is at Sakura's: Creekside in Brecksville (just off 77 then 82 east).

very nice sushi and sushi chefs too
my favorite: spicy tuna with tempura crunch, mmmm

they have all sorts of sake's, chinese and J dishes, a few J beers, 2 hibachi tables, a sushi bar, a bar bar, and lots of booths

We haven't been back there in a while. I like the food a lot, but I just can't get past the "dirty dishrag" smell that hits your nose sometimes when you walk in. Do you know what I mean? Then I smell bleach on top of it. It seems like they'd be aware of a water leak in their refrigeration or something, but I just get too sketched out by funky smells even though I've never had a problem with the food. My sense of smell is super sensitive.

Seoul Hot Pot. Korean's make 'Kim Bob' instead of 'Sushi'... but it's pretty much the same idea... and it's cheap and soooo yummy.

SHP is around 40th on Payne.

I'm a big fan of the Pearl of the Orient in Shaker Heights (in the shopping center between Van Aken and Warrensville Center). It's also a great place to eat sushi while getting work done as they have free WiFi access. :-D

I've heard good things about Matsu in Shaker, and Shuhei in Beachwood, both on Chagrin Rd. If you happen to be downtown on thursdays, the Ritz-Carlton has complimentary sushi during happy hour 4-7pm. They're pretty good with bringing it out too, especially if you have a drink or two. I found Sakure in Lakewood to be acceptable, in particular, I find the plum wine to be most acceptable (i'd like to be finding it acceptable as we speak). :sushi:

google maps is the best. True that.

Double true!

Isn't there a Pearl of the Orient in River? I haven't heard about the Wi-Fi but would it be safe to say the Sushi is the same?

The patio is open at Sakura's in Brecksville Smile

Also the best sushi I've had yet is at a place called Sakura in Vero Beach, Florida. Fresh fish makes a huge difference.
