Does anyone else here listen to any Reggae/Dancehall stuff?

I never see any conversations about good Reggae and UK Dub and Garage stuff. There is some really good stuff out there that is great to explore if you like it.

[hateful mode]
While I do appreciate most of what you just mentionned but I am far from knowing much about it; uk Garage doesn't have it's place with the rest Razz

It's just music for scallies but thankfully So Solid came out and said " no to guns "

I've been exploring the world of reggae/dancehall for the past few years, largely due to the fact that it's been a major influence (and source of samples) on the music I listen to (old school hip-hop and jungle/DnB). I'm a fan of the older sounds: Barrington Levy, Frankie Paul, Johnny Osbourne, U-Roy, Wailing Souls, etc. and not really interested in any of the current trends. I lost interest in hip-hop when a large portion of the genre was focused on sex, money and violence and it seems like reggae followed that same path over the past ten years or so.

For some good experimental dancehall, you should search out The Bug on Rephlex. Some of it is way too abrasive for me, but there are some disgusting glitchy dancehall beats with some classic vocalists (cutty ranks etc). Mixes really well w/ d&b if the crowd can handle something a little different.

A lot of the new stuff out is very roots oriented now, and even the UK geezers who were talkin' bout gangs and drugs are now on that tip.
