To quote Miss Kelly Osbourne in Vegas:

"IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!"

Today at 3:22PM at MetroHealth Medical Center back in 1973, to be precise.

*The Richfield Coliseum was just a year from opening.
*Groundbreaking took plact for the Justice Center, a new complex to house city and county courts and the Cleveland Police Department.
*Clevelanders were knocking each other over trying to flee the disintegrating city.
*An ad for the Higbee Company in the PD featured a young men's suit for only $50. The caption: "Date Tonight?"
*A schoolteacher named Ray Shepardson was looking for a place to hold a meeting when he stumbled upon the ruins of four magnificent theatres on fading Euclid Avenue at East 14th Street, where the Halle Bros. Co. was fighting to hold its own and Manhattan upscale powerhouse Bonwit Teller had just closed its Ohio store the year before.
*Lyndon Baines Johnson, the Free World's 36th CEO, died earlier in the year. His successor, Richard Milhous Nixon, was embroiled in Watergate just as his second term was starting.
*The last of our troops had pulled out of South Vietnam in keeping with the Paris Peace Accords signed in January.
*The first phase of a beautiful new office complex opened for business on April 4 in Lower Manhattan. Its name: the World Trade Center.
*And after 13 hours of excruciating labor (or 36 if you believe my mother)along came eight-pound-eight-ounce me.

So, once more with feeling...

"IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!"

Oh, I almost forgot one little thing that truly dates me.

On 26 March of that year, William J. Bell and wife Lee Philip Bell debuted a new program on CBS TV. Here's how it began...

A lone semi made its way along the interstate from Chicagoland. Its next stop: Genoa City WI, pop. 300,000, seat of the County of Walworth. In the passenger seat was a hitchhiker named Brad Eliot, a person fleeing from a past he chose to forget. Genoa City was as good a place to start anew.

Meanwhile, at a fancy yet cozy restaurant in Downtown G-C named Pierre's, a young medical student named William Foster II, or "Snapper" as his friends & family called him, lent an ear to waitress Sally McGuire:

Sally (more to herself): Kind of a drag, isn't it? Stuck in a boring place like Genoa City. God I feel so restless...

That Emmy Award-winning program--and one of my favorites--still airs today:

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

(see, I told you I'd date myself!)

Yes, kids. Napoleon was correct.

I WAS seeing triple. And beyond. So much so that I will be on a sort of nightlife medical leave for the next 3-6 weeks. Then again, what else can you do when you sprain your wrist and suffer minor cuts from a drunken fall?!

And let's NOT even start about being late for work Saturday due to an afterhours...
