I didn't make it to Out Hud because I was having so much fun at HBMS. Man, what a show. Noel opened with a nice set of indie hip hop classics, then this group went on called the ____ Brothers (can't remember their name). They were pretty sweet. Sounded kind of like Morcheeba and the two brothers were rocking yukalelees (sp for sure).
Next up was Opio from Souls of Mischief who performed some new songs with the (Whatever) Brothers backing him. Good set.
k-Os came out next with a full band and did a great job, performing old and new shit. I think he played a tad too long and got a little boring, but 75% of his set was killer.
Then Handsome Boy came out. Prince Paul, Dan the Automator, and some musicians graced the stage. Sweet set up - faux mustaches and all. They kept to character and continually tried to make the audience 'more handsome.' Dan and Paul each had a set of turntables and would drop cuts and scratches throughout the set.
One of the highlights was when my favorite rapper of the 90's came out for a cameo - Casual from Hieroglyphics. He absolutely tore it up and had all the heads who knew he was jumping around.
At this point I was kind of drunk. The went into "The Truth" which is my fav track from them, so I decided I had seen enough and exited. However, I know Drez from Black Sheep was there too and was set to perform. Not sure how that went down.
Man, what a night!!!
