Anyone see this?
Pretty crazy! Be sure to check out the "satellite" link in the upper right corner with an address search--then zoom in and out. Wild.

google is skynet!

i've been using google maps for a while, and everyone i've sent directions to with it has been wow'ed

I figured the satellite imagery would be added in after they acquired keyhole - which is pretty kickass too.

I wonder how often they update the images. The shot of Case's campus is at least a year old...none of construction that's been happening here (new dormatories / building tear downs) is in the pictures...

Very cool. I don't think anyone uses Mapquest anymore.

I switched to http://www.map24.com, which has a cool "interactive" Java based mapping engine.

But, I gotta say, I think this new Google system is tops.

Cool, try this at http://maps.google.com.

In the top search box

nightclub cleveland ohio

or

lounge cleveland ohio

finally if you are hungry

pizza cleveland ohio

yes. finding information on places is so incredibly easy...much easier than cleveland.citysearch.com by far.

Is it me or does the search only list ten places (of whatever) at a time? perhaps because it's still in beta?

Its nutz, google bought the company that ran the satelite service, and is now offering it for free.

^--- yeah, it's called 'Microsoft's Software on the Backburner' (as per the Wall Street Journal's article)

Google likes to buy old software built with good intentions (and then scrapped) and turn it into a fucking madhouse. The new GoogleMaps are based on Microsoft's old TerraServer (and their satellite network meant for global cell phone reception...what was the name of it...???)
