So, hopefully we're all through the Tuesday Blues, caught up on sleep, and recovered from the "Miami flu."

Now that the ear goggles are off, what'd ya think?

Personally and from a business point of view it was a great Conference for obvious reasons. A successful Toes/HR event and an engagement. And, who doesn't love a week in warm weather in a place where everything is in walking distance?! We got a lot of important business done and met some great people. Can't really complain.

But aside from that, as a partier, I'd have to say this was the worst one I've ever been to. A LOT of cancelled parties. A lot of drama inside the parties. Less experienced heads, more newbs. Lame music, and even some trainwrecks. ugh.

A couple highlights included the vibe on the Space terrace Saturday morning for Sander K and Steve Gerrard's set at the Proton party at Cafeteria.

I always felt that the best part of the Conference is that you could go just about anywhere and be surrounded by like-minded people and always be guaranteed good sets and a good experience. I was hoping to return from Mecca feeling refreshed. Fortunately or unfortunately, I feel even more confused about the direction the scene is headed.

From my particular brand of House standpoint, this WMC was even better than last year. Just absolutely amazing - energy, people, networking, vibes, music, everything. And for the outdoor events, to me, there's no better sound and vibe. I know I'm biased, but I mean here's the list of who I saw last week off the top of my head:

Miles Maeda
Jay-J
Thomas Sahs
Heather
Colette
Kaskade
Jon Lemmon
Johnny Fiasco
Rick Preston
Troydon
Tortured Soul
Eric Kupper
Los Amigo Invisibles
Halo
Lawnchair Generals
Pete Moss
Iz
Greenskeepers
Jonene
JT Donaldson
Spun
Lance Desardi
Jason Hodges
Q-Burns
Miguel Migs
Garth

Are you kidding? Absolutely ridiculous - and they were all on point. I'm still glowing.

My overall WMC experience was really great. There was a small crew of us local Clevelanders hanging out most of the time.
I pretty much hit up all the Drum & Bass events out there along with the Headrush event, a couple of pool partys, and got alot of sun & swimming in.
I'd have to say the highlight of my experience was the Viram party at Jade. The linup was out of this world, along with the style club/ sound system/ and overall vibe of the place. It was like a frikin Drum & Bass meet & greet, everyone who is someone in dnb was there. Andy C was absolutly off the hook, along with Red One, Ed Rush Optical, and Moving Fusion. Probably one of the best if not the best party i've ever been too.

True, the genre divide this year was HUGE.

Definitely. I remember last year having to pick from maybe 2-3 parties to choose from. This year it was double or triple that.

They will need to do a better job of attracting young and hot musicians who want to actually sell records, not just mature into thirtysomething "superstar DJs." ... Then they will have to ensure that record-industry people who fly into Miami from around the world won't have to deal with overzealous bouncers, drunk meatheads looking to kick some hapless guy's ass or molest various women, and velvet-rope bullshit. It's a tall task that will keep WMC from drifting into irrelevance, if not necessarily obsolescence.

A-MEN!!!

I had the best time!! Didn't go to a ton of parties but i wasn't trying to stand in line on my vacation. The afterdark records party thurs afternoon was def. the highlight of breaks for me. The Breakfastaz totally pwn3d me. Met all kinds of new random people down there. And Amy, I totally agree with being able to just sit down with anyone on the street and start talking about electronic music. I really had the best time just socializing and hanging out. And it was so cool to see so many of my Cleveland friends down there. Smile

We'll have to do it again next year.

It was f*cking awesome, I would have to say! The down side I experienced was due to lack of preperation on my part, as I decided to do this on short notice, and this was my first time. Next year, I will be surely prepared, and it will be 10x better b/c of it.

i am not going to ask who, but whoever voted neither this nor that, well...How to say this best...check em' for a pulse. The weather alone was enough to boost it to the excellent level.
