I found myself randomly driving through Pittsburgh this morning and I had this gnawing feeling that I had to go back 'home' to the NEO. I thought home was the place you felt warm and cuddly about, no?

If the Pitts is part of the Rust Belt then Cleveland is a Rust Hole. I was desperately trying to think why can Pitts have a dozen Coventries and Tremonts? Why people look happier? Why people are out and about at all times during the day and nigh? Why is downtown at night dominated by businessmen in suits and not bums? Why can people find funding to throw raves there in huge warehouses? How is it possible to get so many people to pay $50?

I think it is because people that didn't leave Cleveland in the last 15 years are just that - leftovers with no real value or purpose. It can't get better here: we just don't have any manpower left to make a difference.

I don't really know the purpose of this post, I guess I just wanted to vent. Not sure if people on here will understand what I mean...I just wanted to share my thoughts.

This made me sad.

Obviously if you think there is a problem and it saddens you. Pick up yourself and do something about it and be active. Posting on a forum and pissing people off does absolutely no good.

Sorry to dig this up (I lurk slowly here!), but VIA was not something stuck in the 90s. I have to stick up for it because a team of about 40 people poured everything they had into it for 4 months to pull it off....in addition to our regular jobs! It was NOT a rave and it's frustrating to see people trying to put it into that box. It was the most inspiring weekend artistically that I've been to in the past 3-4 years. Maybe I'm just misreading everyones posts. Very possible...I'm tired.

As for the Cleveland / Pittsburgh thing, both cities have their merits...probably should be left at that.
