menu looks tight...maybe I can get a crew to ride down that way next month.
looking at the wine list right now...not too bad...not too bad at all...that could be the best going in NE Ohio...I'd have to peep Symon's again, but it's looking good so far.
The California Cabs could use a bit of work, but some definite gems in there.
Might I suggest skipping the overrated joints like Heitz, Insignia, and Opus One. If you want a Cab that will give an orgasm, go with something like the Caymus Special Selection.
Clos du Val, Etude, Shafer & Stag's Leap are all solid as fuck, too.
Pinots: Domaine Serene is nice...wish there were different vintages and/or vineyards for the Siduri (Pisoni, Gary's), Dierberg ('05), and Domaine Drouhin ('03). Ken Wright is rock solid. Nice selection there...
Needs a French selection of Rhone/Chateauneuf du Pape at the very least....SAF could also use a boost...I'd stick in some Hamilton Russell, Rust en Vrede and Columella. Same for Syrah - needs an injection of bottles like Tensley Colson Canyon, Cimicky Autograph....maybe a Novy or Zaca Mesa or Roshambo for the lower end...and a nice Lewis for the big spenders. I also wish there were more blends & a Zin list, but shit, Seghesio & The Prisoner pretty much alleviate those ailments. Spain is lacking, but for AUS there's an Amon Ra '04? Wow. That's sick for Cleveland. All in all I'd say someone there knows what the hell they're doing.
Nice list, man...only drawback is that it's 40mins from the west side, but definitely worth a drive for anyone into real food and wine.
*Shit, I just saw those awards. Well deserved. How is it that I never made it down there?!?! WTF!
