Since I have superpowers now I just hum my melodies into Audacity, export them as WAV files and put them in Melodyne and it tells me what notes I hummed and then it's on the way to the piano roll. Then after that I beatbox over the melody and do the same thing except lay the beatbox in FL Studio under already-processed drums.

???

Interesting. Anyone use this or know anything about it?

The demo videos are sweet:

Anyone know of other programs that can label the notes of wav files?

I would like to see a youtube video of something like that.

I know Finale has a capability of converting instruments played live into notation, but I think this gentleman is taking it one step further.

I'm watching the demo videos right now... check 'em out. I added the link to the original post.

Ive looked into both and this is the short of what I no.

Finale is used to create scores from recorded pieces. You can run stems through it and within a pretty high degree of accuracy get back the original score it came from. It is also itself score and notation software so you can create arrangements with complete and proper classical notation in it, this is the software you see used in the movie drumline.

Melodyne is something different. It can do similar things with your recorded sources including export note structure to midi (neat). It also can do transpose, adjustment, rearrangement, tone correction, key correction, key change, time change, warping, note swap and almost anything else you could probably think of.

Melodyne is one of the most interesting pieces of audio software Ive ever seen and I have been planning on picking up a copy and spending a month or two beating on it as soon as I get my new house shit out of the way.

I have the light version of Melodyne as it's part of the software bundle that came with my digi003 & pro tools. It's a super handy "tool", like a hammer or a dwreck.

The "wrong note" the piano player hit originally actually sounded cooler that way in the progression.

Still though, pretty mind boggling.
